Photo Essays & Portfolio
For the past dozen years, I have been working in some capacity as a photojournalist. Early on, I worked as a staff photographer at the Daily Hampshire Gazette in Northampton, Mass. and the Union-News (since renamed the Republican) in nearby Springfield. Since leaving the Union-News in 1999, I have been freelancing for a variety of news outlets including the Associated Press, Boston Herald, New York Times and the Chicago Tribune.
The work sampled here draws on my entire career as a news photographer. Two galleries, Georgia's Other Refugee Crisis and A Nation in Transition are photo essays drawn from trips to the Republic of Georgia, a small country situated south of Russia, north of Iran, west of Turkey and east of Azerbaijan. The other is a look at the work I've done as a staff and freelance shooter for dailies.
