Beso Nachkebia

Beso stands in the stripped-out fifth floor lobby of the hotel. Behind him the walls were once painted bright gold, the frame he leans on had dwindows.

Living in a Tbilisi, the largest city in Georgia with population of 1.5 million, has been difficult for Beso. Abkhazia is a lush, rural region known for its fruit production, a stark contrast to the dirty sprawling city he lives in today. The difference, he says, is "like the earth and the sky."
