Update
As of September 2004, the residents of the Hotel Iveria and another Tbilisi hotel, the Hotel Adjara, have moved out after being paid approximately $10,000 each by the government. The two sites will be renovated and updated as modern, European-style hotels by private interests. While the refugees now have money, there is still a housing crunch in the Tbilisi area and prospects for finding good accomodations are questionable. Less fortunate refugees remain in sanitoriums, hospitals and schools across the country.
